As Spring approaches, snakes are coming out of winter hibernation and will be out and about looking for food. Does your pup know how to identify a "NOPE ROPE"! Remember, to them, it's just another toy. Join us on Saturday 11 April 2026 to help teach your puppy how to avoid snakes. We are excited to announce that Snake Experience of Raleigh will be here to educate students on the different habitats and life cycles of our native snakes here in North Carolina. This is a GREAT Course for ALL dogs, ages , breeds and levels of obedience. The course is designed to help your pup recognize the snake, alert you to the presence of the snake or if off lead run back to you (Recall) when they come in contact with a snake and eventually avoid the snake all together.
Deer Creek Farm does require all canines who attend to be up to date on all of their vaccines, to include the Bordetella vaccine. Please bring a copy of your veterinarian records with you to present at check-in. You will also need to bring a leash, collar, e-collar & remote, kibble (or Scooby snacks), water bowl and your favorite little fur goblin. It will be a day filled with fun, learning and everyone attending, having a PAWTASTIC day!!!!
*** If your canine is currently enrolled in the Deer Creek Farm B&T Personal Protection K9 Course, the KSA Course is included with that training. ***

Graduates from our last K9 Snake Avoidance Class in the Fall of 2025.

Our goal is to help your dog recognize the snake as a threat (danger) and not as a moving and wiggling rope they can play with as a chew toy.

We want your pup to be able to alert you, the Handler, as to the presence of a snake. This will help ensure the safety of you as well as of the dog.

When off lead, we want the dog to automatically recall back to the handler. So when they come in contact with a snake, they will go find you.

The main objective here is to avoid the snake at all costs. We want the dog to stay beside it's handler and not lunge towards or walk into the snake.
